Carlson McCain is seeking a Construction Inspector to provide oversight and documentation during civil construction projects primarily related to engineered containment facilities such as landfills, surface impoundments, etc. This is a seasonal position beginning in April of 2025 and will require traveling to jobsites in Minnesota and/or North Dakota during the 2025 construction season. Future opportunities in Minnesota, North & South Dakota, Wyoming, and potentially other states may also be available. As a Construction Inspector, you will be responsible for field activities associated with construction management, construction quality assurance, and inspection/oversight of civil engineering projects.
Duties:
- Provide full-time, on-site presence and oversight of construction activities.
- Observe and document daily activities performed by contractors.
- Interpret construction documents and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications (i.e. construction quality assurance).
- Conduct GPS surveying and staking.
- Maintain communication with engineers, contractors, and owner.
Requirements:
- A two-year civil technology degree or previous construction inspection or related experience (e.g. materials testing, surveying, QA/QC etc.).
- Possess general knowledge and understanding of civil construction methods and materials, including the ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Ability to work independently under the supervision of professional engineering staff, and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and coworkers (written and verbal).
- Capable of working long days, non-traditional work weeks, outdoor working conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
